  111. Taking Flight: From War Orphan to Star Ballerina, Michaela DePrince
  112. Shiny Broken Pieces (Tiny Pretty Things #2), Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton
Did not finish:
  1. When the Moon Was Ours, Anna-Marie McLemore (I loved its diversity, but fairytale books don't always work for me, and I found this one a bit too descriptive and slow)
  2. The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Emily M. Danforth (first-novel syndrome: too descriptive, everything fraught with meaning)
  3. Resenting the Hero, Moira J. Moore (lately I'm limiting my amount of what feels like insignificant, truly forgettable SFF)
  4. Under Heaven, Guy Gavriel Kay (the writing style didn't grab me, and I was concerned about cultural appropriation issues)
  5. Melting Stones (The Circle Reforged #2), Tamora Pierce (I remain stumped why she wrote this trilogy out of order and failed to actually explain who certain characters are, or how characters got from the end of The Circle Opens quartet to where they are now; and I don't tend to like her first-person narrative style)
  6. How to Be a Heroine: Or, What I've Learned From Reading Too Much, Samantha Ellis (turns out I mostly am not familiar with the literary heroines she focuses on)
  7. Six Wakes, Mur Lafferty (awesome premise, poorly-written execution)
  8. Stars in My Pocket Like Grains of Sand, Samuel R. Delany (gave it a shot but it didn't ultimately interest me)
  9. Russian Winter, Daphne Kalotay (though the main character was a ballerina at the Russian Bolshoi, this really isn't a ballet novel)
  10. The Scent of Water, Elizabeth Goudge (kind of boring, and I'm also concurrently reading another English-woman-moves-to-a-sleepy-country-village novel)
  11. The Returning, Christine Hinwood (somehow even with the overly simplistic language I couldn't understand it)
  12. The Bards of Bone Plain, Patricia A. McKillip (boring)
  13. The Safe-Keeper's Secret, Sharon Shinn (didn't grab me)
  14. *The Sword of Shannara (Shannara #1), Terry Brooks (nostalgia was not enough to make up for the poor writing. I wonder if I should keep my copy?)
  15. *The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (fell by the wayside until it was far too late for this year's winter break Bronte. I'll read it next year)
  16. The Fool of the Family, Margaret Kennedy (not nearly as wonderful as The Constant Nymph; in fact rather frothy, with neither the serious themes nor quirky gaiety of its predecessor)
  17. Stiletto (The Rook Files #2), Daniel O'Malley (I re-read the first one in preparation for this one, and it wasn't nearly as good on re-read. This one lost me within the first few pages)
  18. *The White Dragon (Dragonriders of Pern #3), Anne McCaffrey (I set it aside and never picked it up again. Despite wanting to do a Pern re-read, I found the sexual politics nearly unbearable)
  19. The Wild Girl, Kate Forsyth (I didn't love it, and I'm warned of sexual abuse later in the novel)
  20. Rogue Squadron (Star Wars, X-Wing #1), Michael A. Stackpole (I no longer have any patience for a novel comprised entirely of male characters)
  21. The Mabinogion Tetralogy, Evangeline Walton (I intend to come back to this, but now was not the right time)
  22. Autumn, Ali Smith (too stream-of-consciousness for me)
  23. Lying Awake, Mark Salzman (somehow simultaneously too brusque and too explainy. If I want to read a lyrical novel about nuns, I'll re-read Rumer Godden's In This House of Brede)
  24. Infandous, Elana K. Arnold (did not like the narrator)
  25. Astonish Me, Maggie Shipstead (for a ballet novel it was surprisingly dark and depressing. I didn't like any of the characters)
  26. Spellbook of the Lost and Found, Moira Fowley-Doyle (too many characters without enough differentiation in their narrative voices)
  27. Too Like the Lightning, Ada Palmer (I don't know nearly enough about the French Enlightenment or the history of ideas to keep up with this one)
  28. The Last Light of the Sun, Guy Gavriel Kay (what is it that makes a book feel uncomfortably masculine? It's not just having a male protagonist)
